This is Tonner’s 16 Renée Devereaux doll, part of the Devereaux Sisters series, a roaring 20’s/Great Gatsby inspired collection. It uses the same body dimensions as Tyler, their flagship 16/40cm/1/4 scale doll. Tonner was known for designing high quality vinyl dolls, with a painstaking eye for detail until Tonner closed in 2018. Tyler and her cohorts set the standard for other 16 fashion dolls, with articulated elbows and knees and a wardrobe full of luxury fabrics such as silk, linen and cashmere. Other 16 doll outfits from the Tyler Wentworth series and any of those by the Franklin Mint, All About Eve, or Madame Alexander’s Alex should also fit her body sculpt. This is the “Backstage Invitation” Renée Devereaux doll, released in 2010 as a limited edition of just 300 pieces. It features her in a sheer black silk chiffon dress, with knee high stockings and lace underwear underneath. The main attraction of this outfit is the decadent black velvet dressing gown, lined with pale satin and trimmed with black fur and macrame lace. It’s accessorized with a long black beaded necklace and period appropriate high heels. Renée has articulated wrists as well as elbows and knees, allowing for great poseability. The doll’s hair is neat and tidy, her clothing shows no signs of damage or fading. All pieces appear to be present. The box has some cosmetic damage to the surface from storage but is otherwise sturdy and in decent shape. Paper elements may have some discoloration. Some artificial materials, adhesives or elastics might have degraded over time but were not tested.
